The Swype Beta is a swipe gesture based keyboard that provides accurate word suggestions based on the user's style. Using an on-screen full keyboard can be tiring at times and also time consuming.

I posted this in the other Android thread too, but any of you new Swype users owe it to yourself go through the Swype tutorial in app. Cool tricks I'd have been unlikely to figure out myself.
